One area I am researching for EZGUI 3.5 is support for Enhanced MetaFiles.

MetaFiles can be used to record a group of
GDI calls (meaning it records all your drawing commands like a big macro).

I am considering adding the ability to not
only create and display Metafiles, but to be able to save them (and load them) to a disk file.

I also want to add the ability to save Bitmaps to diskfiles (even though PB 8.0 has this feature now), in different DIB formats.

I also am considering adding a number of easier to use commands for drawing during OwnerDraw events, similiar to what EZGUI 3.0 does with the ownerdraw buttons (2D and 3D). basically this would make it easier to draw ownerdraw stuff with more variety.

I am also researching the DrawDIB functions found in Windows. These functions are part of the multimedia engines in Windows. Their purpose is for drawing based on a set frame rate (animation) with the ability to skip frames when necessary.

Chris,

Metafile support sounds great! All of these ideas are fantastic. I hope others feel the same way so that you will work on them. EZGUI is a jewel that keeps sounding better.

Chris,
All the graphic stuff is pretty much wasted on me, but they sure sound nice. I love the other things I've read about though. Just curious as to what your time frame looks like now. Are you thinking it might be possible to do a pre-release in March?

Based on the kind of apps i usually have to work on, these features would be of no interest for me now, but in the future who knows. Just now they wouldn't make a difference for me.

"... is support for Enhanced MetaFiles."
--I'm not sure that I understand what they can be used for, so I have no opinion about that for the moment.

"...the ability to save Bitmaps to diskfiles in different DIB formats."
---That's a welcome feature.

"... a number of easier to use commands for drawing during OwnerDraw events"
---Would be most welcome!

Kind regards

Chris,

Meta files design and other features would be a huge plus. Once other understand how to use them - bmp's would be dumped!

Thanks
